Raised and educated in Dublin, Brian entered the legal profession in 1984. He worked in three legal practices as a law clerk and legal executive. He then completed his solicitor’s apprenticeship in 1994 when he qualified as a solicitor. Brian worked as a solicitor in a well-known defence insurance practice and gained a wealth of litigation experience. In 1999 Brian was a founding partner of the Dublin legal practice McGrath McGrane Solicitors where he remained as a partner for 23 years. In 2023, Brian made the decision to form a new practice where he could focus on the legal services in which he excels, namely negotiation, dispute resolution and litigation.
Brian is a member of the Law Society of Ireland and The Dublin Solicitors Bar Association. He is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and he sits on disciplinary boards for a State Agency. Brian has been a tutor in the Law Society, tutoring trainee solicitors in their negotiations module. Brian was appointed as a judge of the trainees’ Solicitors Negotiation Competition.
In his younger days Brian was a junior international table tennis player and played football with league of Ireland club, St. Patrick's Athletic FC. He is still young and speedy enough for a game of tennis and is an active member of Glenageary Lawn Tennis Club with whom he plays league.
